Ingredients
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, salted
  • 2 pints fresh blueberries, cleaned
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 tablespoons butter, salted
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350ยบ F.
  2. Melt butter in skillet over medium heat. Pour in blueberries, sugar and water. Cook until a light syrup forms, about 5-8 minutes.
  3. As blueberries are cooking, mix together flour and sugar. Cut in butter with a fork, pastry blender or with fingers just until crumbly. Stir in buttermilk just until combined. Dough will be very wet and sticky.
  4. Stir blueberries and then drop dough by large ¼ cup scoops into the skillet.
  5. Place skillet in oven and bake until breading has cooked through and browned on top, about 15 minutes. Blueberry syrup should have also thickened.
  6. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly. Serve while warm.

and one last thing... A couple of different blueberry face masks

Mask #1 1/4 Cup Raw Blueberries (better if they're organic and slightly ripe) 1 Tablespoom Raw Organic Honey 1 Tablespoon Olive or Grapeseed Oil. Mash all the ingredients together or use a blender and to mix well. Apply a 1/4" thick layer all over the face (excluding eyes and mouth). Leave the mask on for five to ten minutes, then wash off with a damp cloth.

Mask #2 8-10 blueberries, 1 tablespoon yogurt, 1 tablespoon lime juice Mash or blend the blueberries, then stir in the yogurt and lemon juice. After cleansing, spread the entire mixture over your face Leave on for about 15 minutes, then rinse well with warm water and pat your face dry.

Mask #3 1/4 cup local organic blueberries 1 tbsp raw organic honey 1 tbsp organic olive oil Blend ingredients in blender. Apply evenly on face. Leave mask on for 5-7 minutes. Remove with a damp cloth.

and last but not least...

Mask #4 • 1 Tbsp crushed ripe blueberries (lots of antioxidants mean free radical protection) • 1 Tbsp lemon juice (Citrus + Vitamin C mean brighter skin) • 1 Tbsp cucumber juice (hooray for cooling, soothing, de-puffing and refreshing) • 2 Tbsp baking soda + water (helps dislodge blackheads and control oiliness)
